Winter 2011

What's New at The Koetting Associates?

Happy Holidays!  We at The Koetting Associates wish all of you a very happy and healthy holiday season. As a reminder, as the year end approaches you may want to consider using any unused flexible spending account funds on eye wear or eye care. Rather than risk losing your balance you may prefer to treat yourself to a new pair of eye glasses or purchase your next supply of contact lenses ahead of time. Also, remember that gift cards are available that may be used on any services or products in our office, including non-prescription sun glasses.

The Future is Coming  Over the next few months you will begin to see some changes taking place in our office. We will begin the implementation of electronic medical records which ultimately will allow us to provide our patients with higher quality and more efficient eye care. As you can imagine we are anticipating some growing pains, so we ask for you patience as we implement this new technology. We are hoping to be fully operational by mid-year (2011) and next year at this time we should be working at maximum efficiency.

Hear Us on the Radio in 2011  In early 2011 you may hear our practice discussed on KMOX's Mark Reardon radio show between 2:00 and 6:00 PM. With the Cardinals returning to KMOX this upcoming season, we feel this is a chance to get our message out to many current and prospective patients. Of course, we will continue our relationship with Guy Phillips on Y-98 in the mornings. Tune in and we will keep you updated with anything new happening in our practice.

Dr. Castellano Attends Academy Meeting  Dr. Castellano recently returned from the American Academy of Optometry meeting in San Francisco where nearly 6000 doctors attended from all over the world. The latest in research was presented and there are many fascinating develops coming down the pike in eye care. As leaders in the field we promise to make new developments available to our patients as they become available. Also, as the economy recovers, industry is beginning to put more money back into R & D and we have already been asked to participate in a number of clinical trials. These studies ususally involve the latest in contact lens materials and designs or the latest in lens care technology. If you have interest in participating in any of these studies please feel free to ask at your next visit if there are any trials for which you might be a candidate.

Health Care Reform  No matter where you stand on health care reform there is one thing we can all agree on, and that is that some changes are coming. We will be happy to assist you in determining your insurance coverage as relates to routine vision care or medical eye care. Just because you may not have "vision insurance" does not necessarily mean your visits to our office will not be covered. In many cases visual issues are related to medical changes in the eye and may be billed accordingly. In addition, if you have diabetes even routine eye examinations may be covered by your health care insurance. If you have any questions please ask our staff to assist you.
